From students to students
Declaration by the student council of universities
"Dear students, the Fall 2010 army recruitment is beginning and it is one of the most important preconditions for ensuring the security of our homeland's borders.
This recruitment is special in that the army will include a large number of students for the first time. For many of us, the lecture halls and libraries of universities and institutes will be replaced with military units, military exercise units and combat supporting points. We will be mastering certain knowledge, completing different courses and gaining experience. In addition to receiving the honorable title of a student, we will also have the right to be called the defenders of the Homeland.
Armenian students have always faced dangers and hardships. Armenian students studying at foreign universities brought a new sweep to the national liberation struggle in the 19th and 20th centuries, participated in the reconstruction of Soviet Armenia in the 1920s and after two decades, fought in all fronts during the Great Patriotic War. Armenian students also became the torchbearers of new, enlightened ideas and remained the bearers until the end of the national liberation struggle. Many Armenian students died during the Great Patriotic War and the Artsakh war and sacrificed their lives to give us a Homeland with invincible borders.
During the hard years of building the army, our elder friends left for service and made great contributions to the functioning and strengthening of the armed forces of Armenia and Artsakh. It is thanks to their dedication and sacrifice that we leave to serve in the region's most developed and efficient army.
We are the bearers of the contributions made throughout the past century and each of us must serve in the army with the mission to make the army stronger and more efficient thanks to our knowledge. Let's keep the good name of all graduates who have served in the army and let's deserve to replace the soldiers who are returning home after defending our country's borders for two years. Your friends and professors are proud of all of you. Whereas students are the educated youth and the future intellectual potential, conditional soldiers are the guarantee for a peaceful future. We are the owners of our country and our future and the time has come to serve the country.
