The festival of Azerbaijani films has been cancelled in Yerevan, according to the chairman of the Caucasus Center of Peacekeeping Initiatives Georgy Vanyan.

The screenings were canceled since Armenian halls refused to host the festival for different reasons.

"We have just been denied another hall at 1 Buzand," complained Vanyan adding that the festival would take place despite all obstacles.

Four Azerbaijan short films were to be screened during the festival due in Yerevan on November 12 -13, 2010.

U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Marie Yovanovitch, UK Ambassador to Armenia Charles Lonsdale, Director of Golden Apricot Film Festival Harutyun Khachatryan and school principal of Yerevan's Mkhitar Sebastatsy educational complex Ashot Bleyan were to make speeches in the opening ceremony.

The festival is organized by the Caucasus Centre for Peace-Making Initiatives, with the support of the US embassy
