The owners of the 14 houses, which were burnt down by a fire in late November, were invited to the Yerevan Municipality on December 8 to meet Mayor Gagik Beglaryan.

They were received by Deputy Mayor Kamo Areyan who promised to tackle the issue in the coming days.

"They promised to provide us with new abodes in the near future. People living in tents will be the first to receive flats. We believe that we shall not stay homeless for a long time," the residents told A1+.

A fire broke out on Mashtots Avenue and Koryun Street on November 25 leaving 14 houses burnt and scores of citizens homeless. The residents are currently living in tents set up in lieu of their previous homes and making meals on a heater.
