The tractor driver noticed a jug while digging another hole for the water pipeline. The driver immediately informed the local monument protection branch administration and the latter informed the top representatives. It has been instructed not to take any measures before the arrival of an expert.
The locals say the jug had most probably been foreseen for wine and it has a 200 liter capacity. The locals don't exclude the discovery of more similar items made from clay since this territory was once the Shaharistan residence.
In the 1970s, people found an exclusive Hellenic crypt while destroying foundations to build a home in this territory. Experts say the 166 cm high crypt covered with 2 large stone plates traces back to 2,000 years. The treasures of the crypt, including gold jewelry, the top of a cane and more, have been kept in a sarcophagus prepared with baked clay.
Garnik remembers 30 October 1971 when he and his family got to work and discovered the ancient crypt as if it were yesterday. He often dreams of seeing another similar crypt nearby.
