Flash mob participants “chained” Northern Avenue
Bridge of Hope NGO and Mission East humanitarian aid organization today organized a flash mob on Northern Avenue demanding equal rights for disabled people.
Chaining the avenue, the participants of the event stood in silence for 5 minutes.
The event was organized as part of monthly activities aimed at raising public awareness on the disabled and their problems.
There are more than 180 000 disabled persons in Armenia and their problems are still unaddressed. Disable people are not given a chance to exercise their rights and participate in the events that take place in the country," said Chairperson of Bridge of Hope NGO Susanna Tadevosyan.
She says that employees do not want to recruit physically handicapped people.
"As long as public shows such an attitude toward disabled people we cannot expect positive changes in the country," she added.
The event was organized on Northern Avenue to attract the attention of passers-by.
