President of the Committee on Defense of Freedom of Speech and member of the Board of Trustees of the "People's TV" Foundation Ashot Melikyan said the results of today's NCTR tender were a sham.

"This was neither a tender nor a vote. It was a sham. When almost all members of the commission give a score of "6" to all proposal packages, this goes to show that there are no personal opinions whatsoever. There was only one case when a commission member gave a different score, but the rest gave the same scores," said Melikyan.

Melikyan had this to say about the anonymous score of "0" to "A1+". "Either these people didn't read "A1+"'s proposal carefully, or they don't know what they are doing or this was a subjective decision."

Ashot Melikyan says the NCTR is simply an instrument and all issues are solved at the top level. "I think the commission and the authorities used this vote as a way of saying they could care less about everything, even the people's voices." Melikyan also mentioned that there will be no serious reforms in Armenian television for the next five to six years and everything will be under control.

"I think the people's television will continue to support "A1+". "A1+" will continue to work as it has in the past and I hope that it will develop," said Melikyan.
