Gathered at the theater were outstanding Armenian artists, representatives of political parties and parliamentarians, Armenia's first President Levon Ter-Petrosyan, who invited the Maestro from France to head the orchestra of the Opera House during his tenure of office.

Amenia's first lady Rita Sargsyan, National Assembly Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan and Leader of Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) Gagik Tsarukyan were present at the farewell ceremony.

The Maestro was buried in Komitas Pantheon to the music of Mozart.

In his farewell speech, a family friend, Vahan Vardapetyan called on the Armenian people to appreciate people while they are living.
