Protesters demand equal conditions for the blind
A group of young people today gathered outside the Ministry of Foreign Affairs trying to attract the attention of Minister Edward Nalbandian.
The protesters demand equal footing for the blind saying that blind can also study in diplomatic schools.
After graduating from the university Artak Beglaryan decided to continue his studies in the Ministry's diplomatic school but the MFA rejected his application saying they cannot organizes courses for the blind.
According to a government decision dated February 13, 2002, blindness cannot serve as a ground for rejecting an applicant," said Beglaryan's friend Sargis Khandanyan.
Khandanyan hopes that the Ministry will correct its mistake.
"With the refusal the Ministry has trampled on Artak's constitutional right," he said.
The group will go to court if the Ministry fails to give a reply within five days.
