Church is still under pressure
Religious leaders of Iraq met within the framework of the meeting of the central committee of the World Council of Churches. Representing the Armenian Holy Apostolic Church by the blessing of his His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians was leader of the Armenian Diocese in Iraq, Archbishop, Father Avag Asaturyan, who is also the general secretary of the Council of Christian Church Leaders in Iraq.
During the meeting, the participants touched upon the latest persecutions and terrorist acts committed against Christians in Iraq.
During the central committee's session held in a wide format, they underlined the need of creating a secure environment for all citizens of Iraq.
The religious leaders of Iraq emphasized that the Church is still under pressure in Iraq and that the Christians will be in danger if things continue like this.
