No AIDS decline in Armenia
The number of new people infected with AIDS and death cases has reduced in Armenia. With that said, the number of people infected with HIV is becoming sustainable in all parts of the world, as reported in a global report.
The report also states that Eastern Europe and Central Asia are the only regions where the number of people infected with HIV is on the rise.
This number has almost tripled since 2000 and reached 1.4 million in 2009. The spread of HIV in Russia and Ukraine is 1% or more.
In 2001-2009, the growth of the HIV virus was more than 25% in seven countries around the world and five of them are in the Caucasus, including Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
