Sargis Tkhruni Youth Student Union addresses letter to Yerevan Mayor

Social

Sargis Tkhruni Youth Student Union of Social Democrat Hunchakian Party (SDHK) has addressed an open letter to Yerevan Mayor Karen Karapetyan.

"We learned from media reports that on Tuesday, April 26, municipality officials will travel on public transport. It is really laudable that our state officials who are accustomed to warm offices will travel with "ordinary mortals" but it is advisable that all the officials in the capital regularly take buses and minibuses to understand the complexities and challenges of public conveyances.

The municipality had better pay due attention to the problems of different social strata, especially on student issues," reads the letter.

The Union suggests that the municipality provide fare-free transport for students living in the administrative districts of the capital and negotiate with university administrations on the issue.

"The Municipality can buy buses to take students to their place of study. This will help you settle another important political problem. You will save students from becoming a subject of political manipulation as free transportation of students has developed into a tradition by political parties who seek to gain political dividends during the elections," said the Union.
