Armenian journalist Ernest Vardanyan will be pardoned. According to Jnews, this was what Presidnet of the unrecognized Transdnester Moldovan Republic Igor Smirnov announced during a press conference on the occasion of Press Day.

On 16 December 2010, the Supreme Court of the Transdnester Moldovan Republic sentenced journalist-analyst for the Moldovan RIA "New Region" Ernest Vardanyan, 30, to 15 years in prison for espionage and state treason.

Ernest Vardanyan's two children, mother, 16-year old sister and wife are under custody.
