Villagers of Aragats community of Aragatsotni province have gathered in front of the village council to protest the results of the community head election and demand a meeting with village candidate, incumbent village head Gagik Poghosyan.

The village council representatives say the village head is not there and they don't know when he will be back.

Village candidate Gagik Melkonyan mentioned that he had protested the results of the elections and that there would likely be a recount today. Melkonyan is certain that there will be more votes and justice will be restored.

According to the data provided by the Central Electoral Commission, the May 22 elections for head of Aragats village saw a turnout of 1,717 voters with 47 invalid ballots and 6 inaccuracies.

Incumbent village head Gagik Poghsoyan received 863 votes, while Gagik Melkonyan received 806. The incumbent village head was reelected with 57 more votes.
