Mayor on Narek Sargsyan
In relation to the appointment of the chief architect of Yerevan, allow me to mention that it is not right to ascribe all of Yerevan's issues to one person," said Mayor of Yerevan Karen Karapetyan on his Facebook page as he touched upon his decision on appointing Narek Sargsyan as the city's chief architect.
According to Karapetyan, many decisions are due to several objective and subjective factors, the rules of the game and more.
"When appointing Sargsyan, I took into account the positive and negative opinions, as well as his good and "bad" experience. This can be useful to be a more efficient and coordinated manager. I also took into account the fact that the team of the municipality is forming an open, transparent atmosphere where citizens of Yerevan can oversee the municipality's activities," said Karapetyan.
Karen Karapetyan also assured that "the chief architect will stay true to the policy of the municipality, that is, no permission for construction at the price of green zones and no implementation of any project that goes against the philosophy of urbanization and architecture in Yerevan."
"I am sure that time and work will show that my decision was reasonable and purposeful. Narek Sargsyan loves Yerevan as much as the citizens of Yerevan and I think we must all encourage him and create a favorable field so that he has the opportunity to show his love for the city. I suggest postponing the discussions for a couple of months and focus on the activities," said Karapetyan.
As far as the rumors regarding the reasons behind Mikayel Hasratyan's resignation are concerned, the mayor says they don't correspond to the reality.
