Subway fare doubled in Yerevan
Starting July 1, metro commuters in Yerevan will have to pay 100 drams against the previous 50 drams.
A Facebook group called "We are against fare hike" today staged an action outside the Yerevan Municipality protesting against the doubled subway prices. They handed a letter to a municipality representative demanding to reconsider the metro tariffs.
"Should the government ignore our demand, we shall organize another protest in twelve days," said protester Arman Mkhitaryan.
The group is going to stage protests outside the metro stations, as well.
"I call on our citizens not to travel by metro unless the city officials lower the metro fare," said Lusine Safaryan.
