Are there animals with murrain?
Although the RA Ministry of Agriculture assures that there have not been any murrain cases in Tchambarak city of Gegharkunik province, the locals confirm that the number of sick animals is on the rise.
"Cows have murrain under their feet and tongues. They can't walk and slowly die," Tchambarak resident Avetik Lazaryan told "A1+".
According to him, there are not only sick animals in Tchambarak, but in nearby villages as well, especially Vahan village and Dprabak. However, Avetik Lazaryan says the milk or meat of a sick cow won't put a person at risk. "We still hand the milk to the Milk Reprocessing Factory without any medical document, and the meat is taken to the capital after mandatory inspection," said Lazaryan.
Head of the General Veterinary Inspectorate at the RA Ministry of Agriculture Hovhannes Mkrtchyan told "A1+" that nothing was unusual. According to him, though quarantine has been announced for over a month, experts have not revealed any cases.
"Quarantine has been announced so that documents for meat and dairy products won't be mandatory," said Mkrtchyan, adding that the group of experts will visit the region again.
