Territories with radioactive radon to be revealed
Over 400 radon detectors were established in 106 spots in Armenia, including Lernadzor, the State Nuclear Safety Regulatory Committее said in a letter addressed to EcoLur in reply to the alarm signal from Lernadzor.
According to the Committee, radiation background is checked in those areas where radon gas yield is present. At present the detector reading should be sent for processing to Swiss 'Gammadata Instrument AB' specialized company.
'The aim of this program is to reveal those territories where radiation of natural radon is present and to reduce its hazard with the help of technical and organizational measures,' the letter says.
