Yerevan's figure skating school will be renovated in 2012. The skating-rink was closed in 2008 as it needed urgent repair but the school continued to work with 16 skating groups (153 pupils) and two hokey teams.

The amount of the money required for repair works will be determined upon the completion of project works in 2012.

The Mayor's Office informed A1+ that they will monitor the work. The choice of the ice (natural or silicone) is to be determined by the municipality.

By an April 8 decision of the Mayor's Office, the school was renamed Ice Hockey and Figure Skating School of Yerevan.

In reply to A1+'s question how lessons are held in the building if it lacks the necessary conditions, the municipality said technical and tactical exercises are held at the Karen Demirtchyan Sport-Concert Complex and at the circular skating rink on Swan Lake.

Note that the building is in disrepair.
