Areni village to host wine festival

On October 8, the Armenian village of Areni will host the third annual wine festival.

This year the organizers promise participants more sorts of wine and a variety of competitions.

According to Nune Manukyan, director of Areni Fest Foundation, a competition entitled "Armenia through your eyes" will be held for tourists within the festival. The attending tourists will present labels for wine, drawn by themselves.

The best one will win a prize. Besides, the best 100 labels will appear on the bottles. Guests from France, Russia, Spain and Estonia are expected to arrive in Armenia to partake in the wine fest.

In addition, this year a separate competition of home-made wine will be held. The winner will be selected by the participants. The best wine factory will receive "Golden Pin 2011" souvenir. The factory will be selected by the professional jury, which includes professional sommelier Serzh Ghukasyan, invited from France.

The program of events includes traditional dancing, singing, food making and tasting, winemaking and tasting, traditional games and contests.
