Scientists have no access to knowledge
"Heritage" faction MP Anahit Bakhshyan has appealed to Executive Director of the National Competitiveness Foundation of Armenia Arman Khachaturyan with several proposals for the development of competitive science in Armenia.
Bakhshyan has participated in several debates organized with members of the group "We Demand High Funding for Science". She places importance on the issues raised and considers the solutions realistic.
Students and scientists don't have any access to foreign scientific databases in Armenia. According to Anahit Bakhshyan, to have a competitive science, the country needs to integrate into the flows of science and information abroad.
To promote competition in culture and science in Armenia, the MP proposes to ensure free access to research databases like SCOPUS, Thomson Reuters, JSTOR on the computers of all cultural, scientific and institutions of higher education in Armenia.
To allow knowledge abroad be accessible to Armenians and raise the level of competitiveness of scientists, the MP has also proposed to provide all cultural, scientific and educational institutions with free, unlimited Wi-Fi Internet connection.
