At the moment, there are no grounds to assume that there will be a stronger convulsion," says Head of the RA National Service for Seismic Defense Hrachya Petrosyan. An earthquake with a 3.5 magnitude struck 10 km west of Garni today with the force of 5 points at the epicenter. The earthquake was followed by eight aftershocks, and according to Hrachya Petrosyan, the seismic energy is fading now.

"The 5-point quake was weak and we can't accept it as a basis for ongoing quakes," the NSSD Head said.
He also called on staying calm and not paying attention to the "false rumors spread by those in panic".

"To this day, no scientist or seismic service has been able to predict a short-term earthquake, that is, say the precise hour, place and force of the earthquake," he said.
