Large influx of tourists expected in Armenia
More tourist visit Armenia during winter months.
According to the Ministry of Economy, a dynamic growth was recorded in tourist inflow from 2007 to 2010.
According to coordinator of charter flights at a travel agency Maya Tokhalyan, a large influx of tourists is expected this winter as well.
"We expect about 100 people from Jordan. Tourists mainly prefer to spend their holidays in Tsakhkadzor but as you know prices go up there during the Christmas period, therefore we offer them to spend the night in Yerevan," she said.
Armen Himosyan, a representative of another travel agency, says in addition to Tsakhkadzor many prefer to visit Dilijan and Jermuk during winter months.
Hotel prices range from 35 000 to 40 000 in Tsakhkadzor, but they go up on the eve of New Year.
According to the Tourism Department of the Economy Ministry, 683.979 tourists visited Armenia in 2010, 18.9% more than in 2009.
