Consider elections falsified
Public school N 2 in Maralik today elected a new principal after a struggle between acting principal Rosa Gevorgyan and former principal Anyuta Hovhannisyan.
According to the amendments made in the RA law "On Public Education", starting this year, school principals take exams the results of which determine the act of service.
The school had set up a management council comprised of representatives of Shirak regional council, municipality, teaching staff and parent council.
The candidates presented their four-year plans for school management and development. The management council was especially interested in how the candidates would procure funds to turn their programs into a reality.
That question was the most difficult. Rosa Gevorgyan mentioned that she would have extra-budgetary accounts, would use the experts' wit and abilities and would hold an expert examination of textbooks.
Management council member, schoolteacher Alvard Aristakesyan called the commission members' attention to the fact that Rosa Gevorgyan's program was the repetition of the program presented during the previous elections.
The members of the management council and the candidates were discontent. The former principal complained that the majority of the council members were showing their attitude toward the competitor and were simply flattering her.
As a result of the vote, Rosa Gevorgyan was elected with a ratio of 6 to 2. The other candidate assessed the elections as falsified and illegitimate. "I am sorry for the staff that will work under such an authoritarian regime," Anyuta Hovhannisyan announced.
The atmosphere at the school is currently unhealthy. The staff is split into two parts, a part of which is boycotting the elections.
