“Singers should sing in the shower”
"Armenian culture and art, as well as Armenia will be destroyed in the next couple of years, if drastic measures aren't taken to save Armenian culture," this is what writer, playwright Vahram Sahakyan said during a press conference today.
Sahakyan is concerned about the "freedom of provincial singers and actors".
"They should only be allowed to sing at restaurants. If they want to sing, let them sing in their showers at home. If democracy disturbs people from living as educated people, then I hate democracy," Sahakyan said with indignation.
The playwright also touched upon the latest impeachments. He welcomed any impeachment, but said it wouldn't change anything in the country.
Playwright Karine Khodikyan, who was also present at the press conference, informed that the "widespread garbage" on television, particularly soap operas, is not just a result of tolerance, but state policy as well.
"Aggression and criminal behavior is advocated on television at the state level. Thinkers are seen as ridiculous, while criminals and robbers come out as winners," Khodikyan mentioned.
According to Khodikyan, with this, the authorities want to tell viewers that "those sitting in front of the television set should know that robbers are the owners of this country".
