No HIV check-ups for recruits
Youth infected with HIV are relieved of military service, but young men going to the army are not checked for HIV," epidemiologist at the AIDS Epidemic Center Vardan Arzakanyan told journalists today.
According to him, the reasons why the youth refuse to take an exam are because it is not mandatory and because the results are not specific. "If you have a limited budget, you have to invest in something that is very beneficial," Mr. Arzakanyan says.
By beneficial he means the probability of revelation. The epidemiologist doesn't know why army recruits should be checked. "There are so many of them."
