Hunger striker detained

Yerevan citizen Leyla Asatryan, who started an open-ended hunger strike outside the municipality earlier on Wednesday, was taken to the Kentron Police Department where she was persuaded to give up the strike.

She was released after "some explanatory work."

"They said I am breaking a law and said my efforts were in vain since the issue would not be settled anyway," Leyla Asatryan told A1+.

Asatryan wants to privatize 100 square meters of land which she has been cultivating for 18 years. All her applications have been rejected so far for some ungrounded reasons.

She has returned to the municipality building to continue her strike.
