Mother had sold child
Right after the release of Shirak Center's videos about homeless families with disabled children in Gyumri being deprived of social benefits, social service officials of Shirak regional council and Gyumri visited those families, "conducted an on-the-scene study" and immediately reinstated their social benefits.
The video has caused a problem once again. It is about a family that has been deprived of social benefits, is homeless, lives in extremely heavy conditions and takes care of two orphan children.
The Musheghyan family of six lives on the third floor of a building that is on the verge of collapse near the car station in Gyumri. The head of the family is unemployed and takes care of two orphans. The children's grandmother finds fuel for winter from garbage cans placed on streets.
However, the story of the children reminds one of a horror film. According to the children's guardian Gohar Musheghyan, in addition to 9-year old Gevorg and 7-year old Lusine, there is also a third child who was sold at a young age by her mother who had divorced from her husband and currently lives in Yerevan.
The video only presents one side of the story, bu the creators believe the corresponding bodies and organizations should be involved in the fate of these children.
