Environmentalists to hold demo outside government
On Thursday, the "Trchkan" environmental civil initiative will organize an action outside the government building to protest the eminent domain decision allowing for the transfer of 608 hectares of Syunik village land to the Zangezur Copper Molybdenum Combine.
The decision affects six villages in Syunik - Qajaran, Syunik, Artzvanik. Sevaqar, Atchanan and Chapni.
Later, the group will march to the presidential palace residence to raise the problems in the environmental sphere.
"We demand that the President finally meet us and discuss the problems in the sphere in an attempt to find avenues for their solution," the initiative said in a statement.
