World’s most expensive book sold
The world's most expensive book was sold for 8 million dollars at an auction. American bird expert, naturalist, artist John James Odubon's book "Birds of America" was sold for 7,922,000 dollars at Christie's Auction Center, reports RIA Novosti.
Experts say the book published in 1840 initially cost 7-10 million dollars, and it was presented as the world's most expensive book at the auction.
Odubon traveled across the globe to search all birds around the world and featured them in the book.
The method that the author applied is more than strange, and inacceptable in our days. Odubon didn't draw pictures of birds on trees or bushes, but killed them and gave life to them through his drawings.
The bird expert created 400 works and placed them in a 99 cm long and 66 cm wide book.
The book was published in only 120 copies and was owned by the most famous individuals of the 19th century.
