Turks holding demonstration in Paris
Demonstrations against the January 23 discussions on the bill criminalizing Armenian Genocide denial in the Senate will be held today in Paris.
Turkish presses say the demonstrations will bring together representatives of the Turkish and Azerbaijani communities of France and other European countries. The organizers of the demonstrations to be held with the slogan "No to Anti-Democratic Laws" say the French government is trying to take advantage of the bill to violate the French-Turks' rights. They expect to see a turnout of nearly 35,000 people.
"There will be 75 buses from Germany, 50 from Holland, 40 from Belgium and 15 from England," informed representative of the Coordinating Committee of the French-Turkish Association Hikmet Tyurk. According to him, there will also be 506 buses full of people from other French cities.
"In addition, we are expecting people to arrive in express trains and cars," said Tyurk. The march will end at 17:30 Paris time (20:30 Yerevan time) near the Senate building.
