Official position to be presented
Members of the "We Are The Owners Of This City" civil initiative on 6 February appealed to the RA Ombudsman and informed that the reconstruction of the stands and stores on Mashtots Avenue is being held at the price of the green zone, by violation of urbanization norms and through the infringement upon the residents' constitutional right to live in a healthy environment.
Being concerned about this, the Ombudsman on 8 February 2012 appealed to the Mayor of Yerevan with the request to give clarifications regarding the issue and submit documents corroborating the construction. On February 12, the Ombudsman's staff representative has personally visited the youth holding a protest at Mashtots Park and has gotten acquainted with the situation.
After receiving a response from the municipality, the Ombudsman's Office will present its official position on the issue at hand, reports the Ombudsman's office.
