Serzh Sargsyan has two weeks left
Environmental activists today organized a march from Abovyan Park to Serzh Sargsyan's residence with the demand to annul the amendments to the law "On Expert Examination of the Impact of the Surrounding Environment".
At the residence, a representative of Serzh Sargsyan's administration met the environmentalists and invited them to the residence. The representatives of the administration accepted the action participants' letter and informed them that the environmentalists had two weeks before Serzh Sargsyan either ratifies the law or sends it back to the National Assembly.
"The law further facilitates the process of eliminating forests and green areas. Construction firms gain more from that law than the public does," environmental activist Grigor Ghazaryan told journalists.
Yeghia Nersisyan added that according to that law, any businessman can make any decision without taking public opinion into account.
Lawyer Artur Grigoryan is certain that "Armenia will eliminate all forests" with this law.
Joining the activists were Deputies of the NA "Heritage" and ARF-D factions.
