Will the court change the preventive measure of former chief of police Margar Ohanyan or not? The decision will be known at 2 p.m. when the court returns from the retiring room.

Mhkitar Papoyan, judge of Yerevan's Kentron and Nork-Marash court of general jurisdiction, has retired to the jury room to discuss a motion filed by Margaryan's attorney Mkrtich Vasakyan. The latter suggests that the preventive measure of arrest be changed to bail in the amount of 3 mln drams.

Only prosecutor Harutyun Harutyunyan objected to the motion, considering it to be groundless and subject to rejection.

The ex-chief of police was detained in late August last year and was charged with major petrol misappropriation. The criminal case filed against him says he is charged with misappropriation of more than 150 tons of fuel (designated for traffic police vehicles) and costing $571,000 in damage to the state. Ohanyan, who pled not guilty, transferred half a million US dollars compensation to the state budget yet during the preliminary investigation of his case. His attorney then said it was a matter of his client's "honor and dignity".
