Challenge petition against prosecutor
The trial for the death of lieutenant Artak Nazaryan will proceed in Ijevan at 12:00 today.
During today's trial, the court will take a decision on the challenge petition against prosecutor Harutyun Harutyunyan, which the plaintiff presented during the previous trial due to falsifications made in the preliminary investigation. All the culprits and their attorneys joined the petition, and the court will interrogate a new eyewitness today.
Artak Nazaryan was killed in late July 2010 at the site of his military service, which was one of the military bases of the "Mehrabner" military unit stationed not far from the Chinar village of Berd region in Tavush province. The Investigative Service of the RA Ministry of Defense has completed the preliminary investigation and has sent the case to the court as "provocation for suicide". However, the Nazaryans claim that the preliminary investigation was held with flaws, even the elimination and falsification of evidence.
