Ombudsman sends letter to NA
RA Ombudsman Karen Andreasyan today sent a letter to NA Chairman Samvel Nikoyan and deputies Aram Safaryan, Hrair Karapetyan and Larisa Alaverdyan.
"On 30 September 2011, we met with you and the relatives of 8 soldiers who died in the RA Armed Forces and presented several painful issues.
With your advice and at your request, until 17 October 2011, we worked with the relatives of the deceased, prepared and sent you 8 references regarding the circumstances behind the death of the soldiers.
We are aware that you have appealed to the corresponding state bodies and have received certain responses.
The parents of the deceased soldiers and I ask and hope to see your evaluations and positions on the presence or absence of violations raised in each case before the end of the term of the current National Assembly. We understand the legislative restrictions on interference in the investigation of the cases, but we also expect to see your legal and political support for the successors of the deceased.
The least we ask for is for you to inform the parents of those eight deceased soldiers about our meeting in September, the results of our references, as well as the processes that are in progress and are expected to take place," as stated in the letter.
