From now on, drivers in Armenia will be fined instead of passengers. According to the amendment to Article 123 of the RA Code "On Violations of Administrative Law", which will enter into legal force on June 2, the driver of a vehicle can be fined not only for not fastening his seatbelt, but will also have to pay a 5,000-dram fine for passengers that don't fasten their seatbelts.

Whereas before the driver used to be fined for his violation of the law, the amendment to the law means the following:

"In cases prescribed by the law, driving without a seatbelt or without a fastened helmet or without a helmet, as well as transporting passengers without seatbelts or without fastened helmets or without helmets will lead to a fine costing the minimum of five times the amount of the salary."

This means motorcycle drivers will pay a 5,000-dram fine for not wearing a helmet or not fastening it.
