The young writers' meeting called "Root and Foliage" kicked off at the Creators' Home of the Union of Writers in Tsakhkadzor.

This year the meeting brought together not only young writers from Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, but also Russia, Ukraine and Georgia. Young writers from Belarus and Moldova will also participate in this meeting in the years to come.

Head of the representation of Rossotrudnechestva in Armenia Victor Krivapuskov suggested holding such meetings twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall to "reap and sow".

"Only the army that is young wins, and the literature of young writers wins as well," said President of the Union of Writers of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Vardan Hakobyan.

As President of the Union of Writers of Armenia Levon Ananyan mentioned, whereas there were no young writers ten years ago, now there is a brilliant generation. The participants attached importance to ongoing mutual contacts that are even above political discrepancies.

"During the events of 2008 (Russian-Georgian war-ed.), I never thought that Russian writers weren't my friends and that they share my concerns," said Georgian prose writer Revaz Mishveladze.
