Wolves enter village, kill sheep
"I cried and cried but my son said my tears could not return the sheep," says 77-year-old Roza Hovsepyan, a resident of Lor village in Armenia's Sisian province.
On Sunday night, her granddaughter heard strange voices near the barn. At first, the family did not pay attention to the noise but a couple of minutes later they found the sheep dead in the barn.
"We saw an awful sight. All sheep were torn apart and scattered, and there was blood everywhere. The only goat that we had, had jumped over the fence and run away," said Grandma Roza.
The goat was found in the morning wandering in the nearby mountain. The family had seven sheep, five of which were killed and two injured. The elderly woman regretted selling two lambs the previous day.
Roza Hovsepyan said they had to throw the sheep into the nearby river as the meat was not eatable.
The locals are surprised to hear that wolves entered the village which is brightly illuminated at night.
The family is completely wrecked.
"In this season we sold milk and bought grass. You cannot live in the village if you do not have domestic animals. We heard similar incidents happening in the fields but not in villages. I have been breeding animals for 15-20 years but never have I heard such a thing," said Mrs. Hovsepyan.
This incident made villagers become more vigilant who already keep animals behind locked doors. Meanwhile, Grandma Roza is estimating the damage caused by wolves.
