On World Environment Day, U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern and the employees of the U.S. Embassy cleaned the garbage at the area located near the entrance to the Children's Railway at Hrazdan Gorge. The initiative was undertaken by the U.S. Embassy in Armenia with the support of Yerevan Municipality.

"We highly assess the mayor's support. This is our first step and has a tendency to advance. Yerevan is a very beautiful city with its several nice locations, and we are happy to help by cleaning those areas," mentioned U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern.

The Ambassador also suggested posting signs prohibiting pollution at different locations and applying legal instruments such as fines. Head of the Department for Communal Economy of Yerevan Municipality Karlen Ghazaryan thanked the Ambassador for supporting the drive and other initiatives.

The garbage was removed with the garbage trucks provided by Yerevan Municipality, reports the Department of Information and Public Relations of Yerevan Municipality.
