YSLU has new rector
Gayane Gasparyan has been elected Rector of Yerevan State Linguistic University after Valeri Brusov. Among the candidates running in the election were doctor of philological sciences, Professor Vagharshak Madoyan and acting rector Gayane Gasparyan.
Students of the university consider today's election illegitimate. Some students held a protest in front of the university and mainly complained that the Student Council had also participated in the election.
According to the charter established by former rector Suren Zolyan, the Student Council elected for two years in 2010 is no longer legitimate.
"Based on this, we can conclude that the university ignores the students' voices. We are fighting for our rights so that we won't be ignored," said Mikayel Nazaryan.
