Lifer Mher Yenokyan has stopped the hunger and water strikes which he began earlier this week, Naira Karmirshalyan, a spokesperson for the RA Ombudsman's Office, told A1+.

Yenokyan went on strike on June 11, demanding that relevant bodies review his case. As Karmirshalyan told us, he decided to terminate the strike after talking to human rights activists of the Ombudsman's Office.

"After our office received an alarm signal that Yenokyan had started strike in the Nubarashen prison, the human rights activists rushed to the penitentiary. They talked him out of continuing the protest, saying it is not the best way to draw attention. Yenokyan took their advice and stopped the protest," she said.
