Samvel Abrahamyan, who lives on Myasnikyan Avenue, closed the road with his car as a sign of protest against the closing of the only road to cross the street. The road is the only route to the nearest bus stop for nearly 60 families.

The police officers were trying to convince them not to stop traffic.

"We all want to go out and cross the street at once, but that can't happen," said Deputy Chief of RA Police in Nor Nork district Arayik Petrosyan.

While the police officers were calling the residents to order, they were expressing their protest.

"If they close the road, people will walk over it and will die," said Meruzhan Poghosyan.

The only underground passageway there is near Yerevan Zoo, which is at a distance of 350 meters away from the residential area, and this area is almost impassable especially in the winter.

Deputy Chief of RA Police in Nor Nork district Arayik Petrosyan showed the residents how long it took for him to cross the street to reach his car parked on the other side of the road.

He was forced to reach Abovyan Square, spin and come back to the sidewalk at Myasnikyan Avenue.
