"The disabled aren't ashamed of being disabled"
Nearly 100 disabled children will spend their summer vacation at Lake Sevan this year, meaning the tradition of 23 years will continue.
"First, we will take disabled children and teens ranging from the ages of 5 to 15, and then the disabled ranging from the ages of 20 to 22," said Head of the "Pyunik" Union of the Disabled Hakob Abrahamyan.
Even though today's topic was devoted to the vacation of disabled persons, taking the opportunity, the head of the Union sounded the alarm on the fact that disabled persons aren't able to fully integrate into Armenian society. According to him, the first problems are related to the environment and access to transportation.
Disabled persons first and foremost make an attempt to overcome the barriers through different programs.
The head of the "Pyunik" Union of Disabled Persons, which provides services to 3,000 disabled persons, talked about the Union's greatest achievement over the past twenty years, and that is that "the disabled aren't ashamed of being disabled".
