They worked on Sundays to issue passports
During today's government session, RA Deputy Police Chief Artur Osikyan announced that there had been an unprecedented number of people applying for RA passports this year.
Whereas there were 171,000 applications for passports in the first half of 2011, this year that number has increased by nearly 30,000.
According to him, due to that, the government has taken necessary measures and has particularly organized on-duty service on non-working days and overtime labor.
"Today we can record that the issue has been solved and that the Republic of Armenia now has additional passports," said Artur Osikyan, adding that there still isn't enough number of people applying for the biometric passports.
The indicator for a year and a half shows that only 800 people have applied for biometric passports.
