Stepan Voskanyan, who is the attorney for young activists of the Armenian National Congress (HAK) Tigran Arakelyan, Sargis Gevorgyan, Artak Karapetyan and David Kiramijyan, is currently reading his defense speech in court.

According to Voskanyan, the trial proved that the young men are innocent and have to be justified.

Deputies of the HAK parliamentary faction Nikol Pashinyan and Levon Zurabyan are in court.

There is a crowd of people standing outside the court building, and they aren't allowed to enter since there is no more room in the courtroom.

The youth are charged with showing resistance to police officers in the area near Swan Lake in Yerevan on August 9, 2011.

Prosecutor Hakob Martirosyan has demanded a six-year sentencing for Tigran Arakelyan, three and a half for Artak Karapetyan, and two years of imprisonment for Sargis Gevorgyan and David Kiramijyan.

The prosecutor has also demanded applying conditional punishment only for David Kiramijyan.
