Barbecue fest set for Sept 8
The forth annual barbecue festival will be held in Armenian northern town of Akhtala on September 8. The festival aims to represent Armenian cuisine worldwide.
"We have the problem of presenting and disseminating our national dishes in the world. The festival also contributes to tourism. It will serve as a platform for representing our country to foreigners," says Sedrak Mamulyan, Chairman of "Maintenance and Development of Armenian Culinary Traditions" NGO.
The organizers expect a large inflow of tourists from Georgia, Germany, Czech Republic and other countries.
"The festival does not have its regulations which hinders participation of fans from other countries," said Mr. Mamulyan.
The festival has a jury that names winners. Nominations will be judged in three categories and the winners will be awarded for the best taste and smell, look and idea.
"All participants will receive certificates of participation, the winners will be given cups," said Mr. Mamulyan.
The number of the festival participants has increased compared with the previous year.
