Tamar Gevorgyan, Director of the library system of Armenia's Yeghvard city in Kotayk marz (province), says the number of library visitors has increased as compared with the previous years. People of different ages visit the library, including students, pensioners and housewives.

Many of them sit in the reading-hall and read the books that cannot be taken home.

The centralized library system of the city includes a central library, two children's libraries, which are located in different buildings in different parts of the city. The library system has over 50 000 books. It also has a group of children who recite during different events.

Pensioner Lusik Sahakyan goes to the library with her husband to stay away from daily problems and the city noise. The husbands prefer reading in the quiet atmosphere of the reading-hall. Although the City Hall annually allocates funds to enrich the library with new book, the money does not suffice.
