Half of deaths due to heart disease
17 billion people in the world die from cardiovascular diseases every year. Chief Cardiologist of Yerevan Parunak Zelveyan said that at the meeting with journalists on the occasion of World Heart Day.
He stressed that this number is increasing year by year and may reach 23 million in 2030, according to preliminary estimates.
About half of deaths in Armenia are due to cardiovascular diseases.
Parunak Zelveyan linked this fact to food and lack of motion. During seasonal exacerbations of cardiovascular diseases, the cardiologist recommended such patients to take medical advice frequently.
In Armenia, the prices of heart surgeries start from $7,000.
By the way, the World Heart Federation marks the World Heart Day this year under the slogan "One World, One Home, One Heart".
