Tortoises and Fishes, Bezoar Ibexes and Butterflies will march through Yerevan

On October 28th unusual animals will parade through Yerevan's central streets. Tortoises and Fishes, Mouflons and Lynxes, Bezoar Ibexes and Peacocks, Eagles, Snakes and other animals invite everybody to the Animal Carnival Parade dedicated to nature protection.

It is the third time this unique environmental event is being organized by the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC). During these three years thousands of kids have made animal masks and costumes from waste, thus stressing the importance of animal welfare and nature protection as well as presenting Armenia's endangered animal species.

This year hundreds of kids from the capital and different regions of Armenia will take part in the Animal Carnival Parade 2012. Eleven of twenty-eight participating schools are from the regions of Armenia, including remote border communities such as Berdavan, Varagavan, Akhtala, Alaverdi, Sisian. Each group will wear animal costumes and masks specially made for this event. The presented species are either included in the International Red Book or endangered or on the brink of extinction. Eight music groups will also participate to make the parade more cheerful. The march will be led by the famous samba group Confusao (Bremen, Germany).

On October 28th the Animal Carnival Parade will culminate in an unusual event. Once the parade reached Republic Square, the participants will continue their environmental march on wheels: the "animals" will be taken to Yerevan Zoo by special buses. The sculptures made from waste materials will also accompany them. The group Confusao will spread cheerful sounds from the double-decker bus around the city streets. Arriving at the Yerevan Zoo the participants will enjoy the Bremen Musicians concert.
The route of the automobile parade will be the following; Republic Square, Amiryan Str., Mashtots Ave., Charents Str., Heratsi Str., Myasnikyan Ave., Yerevan Zoo.
