New gas and electricity tariffs to go into effect July 7
The Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia today unanimously approved the new tariffs for natural gas. Starting July 7, consumers in Armenia will have to pay AMD 156 per 1 cubic meter of gas.
The PSRC also approved the new electricity tariff making it AMD 38/ kWh during the daytime hours and AMD 28/ kWh for night hours.
Earlier this year, ArmRusGasProm turned to the Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia with a suggestion to raise the current tariff for natural gas from 132 drams to 221 drams, which would mean a 64 percent price hike. The Armenian government promised to offer a 30% government subsidy for the increased gas tariffs.
